Principal's Message

Dear Olson Families and Community,
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the new principal of Ione Olson Elementary School! I feel truly honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, dedicated staff members, and supportive community partners, and I am committed to listening and learning more about our amazing Olson community as I engage with all of you during the upcoming school year.
I bring to Olson a rich background in education, encompassing 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, intervention teacher, academic coach, and assistant principal, and I feel so fortunate to be able to continue my journey here at Olson with all of you.
Olson’s purpose statement, “To cultivate hearts & minds to build a better humanity,” is one that inspires me. My conversations with Olson staff and families over this past month have brought me meaningful insights into the core beliefs and values that underlie Olson, and I aim to dedicate myself to embodying these Olson values as I enfold myself into the community.
Authentic & Rigorous Learning Experiences
Being Culturally Aware & Responsive
Using Research to Inform Decisions & Practice
Partnerships that Promote Growth
Diversity in Perspective & Lived Experiences
The rich diversity of our students is an element of Olson that I truly value, and I will lead with the intention of fostering an inclusive environment where our Orca students feel safe and supported as they develop academically and social-emotionally.
In closing, please know that my door is always open. Do not hesitate to reach out at any time, as I truly welcome your conversation, input, and feedback. A weekly community newsletter will be coming out shortly with important information about the start of the school year. I am anticipating a fantastic school year, and I am particularly looking forward to meeting and partnering with each of you in service of your children.
Best wishes for a successful and enjoyable 2025-2026 school year!
With gratitude,
Lindsay Larson, Principal
