That's why, during National Family Engagement Month in November, we celebrate and strengthen the connections between our schools, families, and the community.
We believe that building meaningful relationships with parents and guardians creates a foundation for student success. Through our family and community engagement programs, we offer educational and bonding workshops to support families and enhance collaboration between home and school.
Our school community liaisons, community school coordinators, teachers, staff, and school leaders all contribute to the district’s efforts to foster these connections, by working closely with families and community partners to coordinate activities that encourage involvement.
From organizing district-wide parenting events to creating opportunities for parents to engage in decision-making processes, our schools and departments help ensure that all families have the tools and resources they need to support their children’s education.
Some of our key program partnerships include Ohana Center for Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health, Cara Y Corazón, Abriendo Puertas, Parent Institute for Quality Education, and Harmony at Home, all designed to empower families and provide them with the skills needed to support their children’s learning and development.
In addition, our schools are committed to creating welcoming environments for all families. Through school tours, orientation sessions, back to school nights, open house events, and more, we ensure that families feel connected to their school communities.
We also offer volunteer opportunities and provide support to school sites to engage families more deeply in their child’s education.
At MPUSD, family engagement is not just a month-long celebration—it’s an ongoing commitment. Together, we can make sure that every child has the support and opportunities they need to succeed.
