Another Amazing Week of the 2026-2027 School Year!

Greetings Olson Families! Another successful week at Olson is in the books. Our teachers met for professional learning and collaboration to ensure grade level, engaging, affirming, and meaningful instruction is happening across all classrooms. Our student council elections came to a conclusion. So many courageous Orca scholars came out to participate. Congratulations to our 2026-2027 student council executive board members! We wrapped up the week with a whole school community meeting on Friday. Enjoy the Weekly Splash video below with highlights from last week. Looking forward to a wonderful week ahead. Go Orcas!

Fall Clubs

At Olson, we value diversity in lived experience and are excited to support this by providing a variety of after school experiences for this upcoming Fall season. We believe these experiences will improve school attendance, foster agency, develop student sense of culture & identity, and improve children's overall social & emotional well-being.

Students currently enrolled in EDMO after school program at Olson will report to EDMO for attendance, participate in their registered experience, and then report back to EDMO for the remainder of the after school experience.

Please review the offerings & hyperlinked information below and then select your preferences.

Attendance Update

Olson's Daily Attendance Goal is 97%
The calendar chart below displays the percentage of our students who attended school each day during the month. Our average daily attendance rate is currently at 95.5% with Tuesday being our strongest attendance day. Let's strive for 97% each day this week! Please check out Olson's Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow (English) and (Spanish) VIDEO for ways to support regular school attendance. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding your child(ren)'s attendance. We are here to support!

National Literacy Month

September is National Literacy Month, a time to celebrate the importance of reading, writing and literacy in helping students learn, grow and thrive. Across MPUSD, our educators work every day to build strong literacy skills and foster a love of reading at every grade level. Families can be part of the celebration, too, by reading together, talking about books, visiting the library or simply encouraging students to make reading part of their daily routine. Every story begins with a page and every page can open a new possibility.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

A simple conversation, a check-in, or reaching out for help can make a difference. At MPUSD, we want our students, families, staff, and community to know that you are not alone, and support is available. Resources and caring adults are available on our school campuses for students who need someone to talk to or help connecting with additional support. If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or suicide-related crisis, call or text 988 to connect with the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
